I was thinking of what to get my son for Christmas and ThinkGeek.com comes to mind for me often about this time of year. I have made him various things that I thought were interesting that I saw on ThinkGeek. I made a duct-tape wallet out of duct tape and the cardboard on the back of paper tablets. I made a set of "Spork-chops" which are chopsticks with "Sporks" glued on the ends. I made a "thumb wrestling arena" out of a dead circuit board with two holes for the thumbs to come up through. It had a post in the center that the two combatants gripped with their curled fingers. There was a bungee rail around the perimeter of the arena. This year I thought I would buy an LED BCD clock but then thought that I had enough stuff in my junkbox that I could build one myself. This is the result. I found a site on the net that had a close circuit and then found parts that did the same sort of job in my junkbox and went to town.... Check out: http://www.hanssummers.com/electronics/clocks/binary/ That is the site that had my base design. Here are some other photos of the LED CLock:
